Miraculous-Holders is an online group dedicated to a brand new storyline focused around the lives and shenanigans of Miraculous Ladybug OCs. We follow a story that's separate from the show's own, that will change according to the results of events in the future. Be aware that we are significantly darker than the show, closer to a PG-15 rating due to some of the material that may be seen during these events. However, things likely won't end up getting too dark beyond that.
We strive to be a friendly and close-knit community, as well as welcoming and open to new holders of all kinds! To those interested in joining, make sure you read through all of the above links in the Resources tab! This website was created to ensure our information was in a location where all members could easily access it, both new and old, despite the changes made to deviantART.

As a group we primarily run out of our Discord servers and for rping we use the bot, Tupperbox.

A Tribute To Laurence.Laurence came into the lives of MH and its members in April of 2023 through mutual friends. He quickly got along with the other members, came up with some wonderful character ideas, and even climbed the ranks to become a moderator. He stuck with the group through his own struggles, as well as group struggles, but unfortunately, his time in MH would come to an unfortunate end.On the 24th of July, 2025, MH mods received word from friends that had contacts with his family that unfortunately Laurence had been in a car crash and died on the scene. It was a complete accident, and there was nothing that anyone could've have done to change anything that had happened.Laurence left behind numerous art and roleplay groups, all filled with friends who knew him as an incredible person and artist. He always had fun ideas and characters, and none of us knew what to do with all that he had given us now that he was gone. While out of respect for his wishes and memory, some of his ideas were shelved, many references have been left within MH, among other RP groups, both in the groups themselves and in the characters belonging to his many friends.Wherever Laurence may be now, whatever he's doing, MH and all of his friends wish him nothing but peace, joy, and pain-free existence, and to whoever may be reading this, whether you knew Laurence or not, please know that your creative ideas leave marks on the folks around you that you could never imagine, and that you should always exercise extra caution when driving in an unfamiliar area at night.-In loving memory, Nert, Loki, Noot and the community of MH.

general rules

Art by 1tsNert0rN0thing

1.Be respectful.Treat others with respect - whether it’s a moderator, a member, or a guest. If you try to start fights or mistreat others, you will be given a strike. In more severe cases, you will be removed entirely. If you have issues with other members of the discord or feel you are being harassed, please come to one of the moderators privately and we’ll do our best to handle it. Alternatively, you can use our Feedback Form if you want to remain anonymous or hesitate to DM a mod. Please understand that if evidence is not provided in some way, the mods will have a hard time acting on anything. Misuse of the Feedback Form will also result in an immediate strike.2.Do not be Racist/Homophobic/Transphobic/Etc.This is an extension of rule #1 in a way; We have a zero-tolerance policy for intolerance. Misunderstandings happen, but blatant hate will result in a ban. If we see you spouting hateful rhetoric, you WILL be removed without a second thought. This applies to character creation as well. If we note a character design or backstory is culturally insensitive we will ask you to change it or trash it entirely. No exceptions.

3.This group is rated PG-15.While we are going for a slightly darker tone than the show the group is based off of, we ask for our members to keep this in mind. NSFW and Extremely Graphic content is not allowed, as we have minors in the group. This goes for character designs and backstories as well. Dark themes can be explored, but it should never be explicit and should be handled with respect.4. You must be 15 years or older to join.Anyone under the age of 15 will be asked to leave or removed from the group. Lying about your age will result in a ban.5. Give content warnings and spoiler tag images that may be triggering. If your application, artwork, or topic of discussion involves potentially triggering content, please give it a content warning. Not everyone is comfortable with everything, and we want to respect potential triggers and different comforts in the group.6.We operate on a three strike system. The mods can hand out strikes to members for breaking rules. Depending on the rule broken and how severely it was broken, a warning may be issued beforehand. If someone receives a warning, and then doesn't adjust their behavior, they will receive a strike. The consequences of strikes are as follows; One strike bars a member from applying for any mod position.
Two strikes caps a member at 3 characters as well as the above. Any characters, if any, above 3 will be removed. A member who receives this many strikes will be asked what 3 characters they'd like to keep, but if they refuse to respond the oldest 3 will automatically be chosen.
Three strikes will result in the member being kicked from the server banned from the group. If your behavior is severe enough to be kicked, it is unlikely you will be allowed to return.
Strikes are handed out as deemed necessary by the mods, and they generally 'expire' after 6 months, unless the mods think it's necessary to keep it in place.

7.This group has bi-annual activity checks that are mandatory. While we do not require our members to be active all the time, we try to ensure that there’s at least some level of interest from our members. We do two activity checks per year - a creation based one in the summer, and a form based one in the winter.
The creation based one requires you to draw at least one image of each of your active characters in the group or create a writing piece for them.
If you choose to draw, you must draw at the absolute minimum a bust, although it's not required that you color or render the pictures. The style also doesn't matter! Chibi, or painted, or pixel, as long as it meets the minimum requirement and it's of your character, it counts! You can also use recent art, from any time after May 1st, for your activity check. If you choose to write, you have to write at least 500 words for each character. This can be in the form of an RP done within the AC's time, or a writing piece you do yourself. If you make a writing piece featuring multiple characters of yours, it must increase in length proportionally to count for all the involved characters. (So a writing piece with 2 characters must be 1,000 words to count as an AC for both of those characters.)For a character's main identity, you can draw/write about either their civilian identity or their holder identity! However, if they have redeemed a second miraculous and have a second identity as a result, you have to do an AC for that second identity separately. This second AC has to be of their second holder identity. If you don't do an AC for a second miraculous identity, it will be removed like any other character without an AC!Our submission form requires you to fill out a google form put out by the mods. The exact content may vary from year to year, but generally it will include a checkbox and ask you to list any characters you'd like to remove.

Characters without their AC pieces submitted by the summer AC deadline will be removed. In the form AC, characters you request to be removed will be removed at the end of the AC. If you fail to complete the winter AC form entirely, without any notice to the mods, all your characters will be removed. Characters that are removed can be resubmitted, but if you have no characters remaining you will no longer be considered a member! Other than that, there are no consequences for failing to complete an AC.
If you can’t finish your activity check before the deadline for any reason, please message a moderator and we will be more than happy to give you an extension. Broadly speaking, these will be for about 2 weeks, but we will give longer extensions if people need them!
We will reiterate these rules in our announcements for the ACs, and are happy to answer any questions people may have about them.8. Be kind to the moderators!Give us at least three days to look over and respond to things such as reservations, applications, and questions. It may take us a while because we’re waiting on feedback from the whole team, or dealing with life outside of the group. We might not be able to get to it right away, but we do our best to eventually get back to you!
Please also remember fixes given on applications aren't personal- they're just part of the process! We need to make sure everything is balanced and comfortable, for everyone!

Art Rules

1.No bases, doll makers, traced, or AI artwork. This applies to applications as well as any art submitted in the group. If we find out or strongly suspect that your application has stolen or traced artwork, we will ask you to either provide proof the art is yours, or redo it. Applications CANNOT be artwork you commissioned someone else to draw. Using generative AI in any capacity to complete apps, Visual or written, is also not allowed.1.1) You may collaborate with other members on application artwork
We understand that a visual application can be daunting to do alone, especially if you struggle to do art generally because of time constraints or physical ones. As long as you do some part of your visual application, you may collaborate with other members to get it done. To be clear; we expect members to communicate clearly with anyone they're collaborating with for application art, credit anyone who helps them, and understand fixes still may be needed.
If fixes are needed on an app you've collabed with someone on, you can either collaborate again for the fixes, or make the necessary edits yourself (but talk to the people you collaborated with to ensure there aren't any hurt feelings!)
2.Traditional artwork is allowed. This includes being distantly related to the canon characters or knowing them personally. We wish to distance ourselves from the show to allow the characters in the group room to shine on their own, so most canon characters save for a few kwamis are left out of the group.

3.Characters and Kwamis cannot be based off of pre-existing brands or properties.Your character’s kwami cannot be a pokemon, a digimon, or anything else that isn’t an animal or mythical creature. If you want to make a character based on a character from a different IP, we ask that you do something to make the character yours and don't just lift directly from a wiki page for them. You will also have to make sure they fit within the MH universe, too! Be creative, and have fun! Just don't commit copyright infringement or steal other peoples' OCs; if you're going to make a character based on or heavily inspired by a character from a different IP, please keep it to larger and more mainstream ones. Make a knock-off spider-man, but don't go around copying peoples' spidersonas.4.Characters start without any upgrades by default.A character can only start with upgrades if you have the upgrade needed from the Miracle Shop or the Ship of Wondrous Wares. In order to redeem these upgrades, you need to state in their application what items are being used.If the items are not in your inventory, the application cannot be accepted. You will either have to change them or buy the necessary items.5.We have both an age limit and a height limit for characters.Characters can be no younger than 15 years old, and no older than 90 years old. If they reach past our age limit, they will have to retire.

6.Be sure to provide a complete reference of your character on the application. It will not be accepted otherwise. While separate references are allowed, we need the visual application, and the parts of the written application that are mandatory, to be fully filled out for us to check it. More detail can be found on the How to Join page.7.Be sure to keep character balance in mind. While we encourage creativity, please try to keep balance in mind when it comes to powers and character abilities! The mods may ask for some abilities to be toned down if we feel it’s too overwhelming or game-breaking. Some abilities may only be permitted for Akumas or NPCs due to their strength.8.Characters can only be submitted three times a month. To avoid overwhelming the moderators, we only allow three new character applications per member a month, with a three day cooldown in between each submission. This does not apply to characters who are redeeming a Second Miraculous.

Roleplay Rules

This mainly applies to our separate roleplay server,
but it’s important to bear in mind when interacting with other members of the group.

1.To participate, you must have a character that’s been accepted into the group.Otherwise, you won’t be able to join the roleplay server and interact with other members’ characters.2.Remember the difference between IC and OOC.Just because a character doesn’t like yours, doesn’t mean the member that owns that character dislikes you. It’s important to separate yourself from your character, even if you relate to them. Things that happen and actions that are taken in character should not be intended to hurt anyone out of character! If you worry this isn't being taken into account by someone, It's always good to clarify!3.Be polite and communicate.Remember to keep your roleplay partner’s boundaries in mind and communicate your feelings to others. If you don’t like the direction a roleplay is heading, speak up!If someone is expressing discomfort, be sure to listen to them. Don’t force plot points or character interactions if they are unwanted. This applies to in-character relationships too. Don’t try to force ships on other people or harass other people about shipping characters together- and don't try to force other people to stop character interactions if it doesn't involve you somehow!

Art bySammyBoi

4.No godmodding/metagaming/powerplaying/etc.While you may know something out of character, your character might not make the connection. Characters shouldn’t automatically know another holder's identity, and they shouldn't be all-knowing in other ways, either. If you feel your character would know or suspect something about another character, talk to the person who owns the character in question beforehand. You also cannot control other people's characters without their permission, assume their actions for them, or give your characters powers out of the blue without discussing with rp partners and, possibly, mods beforehand.5.Don’t hog the spotlight.Roleplaying is a collaborative effort, and everyone wants their chance to shine. Try not to steal other characters' moments or make the entire roleplay revolve around your characters. If you wish to roleplay with yourself, we only ask you avoid it entirely for long form roleplay. If you wish to show us interactions including only your characters, write a short story!Try not to overshadow a roleplay with a bunch of characters you own. One or two extra characters are fine, but more than that can make it difficult to navigate for others!6.We use tupperbox! To make it easier to distinguish which character is talking or being played, we use tupperbox in our RP server. More details and rules on how to use the bot are listed in the server.

FAQ

Q. Is the group open?A. Yup! Our group and discord are always open for new members unless stated otherwise.Q. Is Discord required to join?A. Since we’ve shifted our application process and the majority of events entirely to Discord, you will be required to join our Discord server if you want to join the group and participate.Q. What is this group based off of?A. This group is based on the series Miraculous: Tales of Ladybug & Chat Noir/Miraculous Ladybug. However, the group itself does not follow the current canon of the series. It's an AU of sorts!

Q. Do I need to have seen Miraculous Ladybug in order to join?A. Not at all! We do recommend trying to familiarize yourself with the world of the show - but it’s not a requirement for joining. Because we follow so little of the show's canon, it's easy to catch up to speed with how the group works. If you have any questions, feel free to ask the moderators!Q. Do I need to be a member in order to reserve an animal?A. You do not need to be a member to reserve an animal. The Reservation list is open to everyone, whether they’re a guest or a member.Q. Do new members get anything upon joining?A. When joining, each member starts with one passport and one passive A, to allow them to put a character wherever they wish and potentially power-up their first character more. Extra information on passports and passives can be found on the Miracle Shop page.

Art by CupcakeForMyKitten

Q. Can I repurpose a character for this group?A. Yes! If you have an existing OC you'd like to bring into MH, feel free to! You may need to adjust them to fit the setting, though.Q. Can I commission someone to draw the art on my visual application?A. No, we ask that all artwork done on your application is, at least in some part, your own. You can, however, commission someone to design your character or use an adopt as long as proper credit is given. We do allow people to collaborate on visual applications as long as proper credit is given to those who help, and the person submitting the character has done at least some part of the application art.Q. How active are we expected to be in the group?A. While we don’t expect everyone to be active all the time, we do expect our members to participate once in a while. Twice a year, activity checks are held to keep our member list up to date with who wants to remain in the group.

Q. What is an activity check?A. An activity check is a way for us to gauge who's still active in the group. They’re done every six months and more detail on how they work can be found in the rules and our announcements.Characters not submitted for checks will be removed from the group, and if you have no characters remaining in the group you will no longer be considered a member. If your character is removed during an AC, they can always be re-submitted!Characters not submitted for either check will be removed from the group but can be added back later with little to no consequence. If you have no characters remaining in the group you will no longer be considered a member.Q. What happens if we break the rules?A. Depending on the severity and rule broken, you can receive anything from a warning to a ban. We operate on a three-strike system and try to give everyone a fair warning before dealing out more serious punishments. However, breaking certain rules might result in your removal if you’re not careful.Q. Can we buy MC with real money?A. No! MC is only awarded for participation in the group. You can earn MC by drawing your characters, drawing other peoples' characters, writing about your characters, logging roleplays you do with others, or any other variety of ways, but you cannot buy MC with real money.

Q. How are roleplays carried out in the group?A. We have a separate server dedicated to roleplaying that can be accessed once you join the group. There are multiple channels dedicated to each continent, as well as feeds that work as a chatroom between other holders. Roleplays can still be done one-on-one in DMs or any other way you prefer to do it, but event roleplays will take place in the event-specific channels of this server.Q. Is event participation required?A. We encourage event participation, but you are not required to participate in every event. You may want to participate in some of them, though, as certain events may affect the world of Miraculous Holders!

Character FAQ

Q. How many characters can we start with?A. New members start with three character slots for free! All members also have access to one free myth slot! However, you must have a spare regular slot to convert into that myth slot.Q. Is there a character limit?A. Nope! You’re allowed to make as many characters as you have ideas for. However, after putting in your first three characters you'll need to purchase character slots to make more.Q. Why can’t we use most of the canon Miraculous seen in the show?A. In-universe, they're largely missing! But on a meta level, it's because we don't want too much canon dragged in- especially because things seem to change a lot within the show's canon. We don't want to keep up with it, and we don't want members to have to keep up with it. For this reason, most canon miraculi are disallowed and the ones we have currently are either group NPCs, or grandfathered in from before this rule was put into place.

Q. What is the difference between a regular character slot and a mythical slot?A. A regular character slot is the default slot for a character that has a normal, everyday animal as the base for their Miraculous. They’re usually a lot less expensive and are the easiest to get. A mythical slot is required for mythical Miraculous (ie. Phoenix or Unicorn holder) Each member starts out with an unconverted myth slot, and can purchase more from the Ship of Wondrous Wares!Q. What team does my character belong to?A. Your character’s team is determined by which geographic continent they live on. If they’re from Canada, they’ll be on team North America. If they’re from Indonesia they would be on team Asia. We have a handy chart below that helps go into more detail, but if you’re uncertain - you can always ask a moderator.
(Image of the map)

Q. Can a Miraculous be anything, or does it have to be jewelry?A. While it isn’t required to be jewelry, it does have to be something your holder can wear, like a pin or a watch. It also needs to have something on it that indicates a timer when the holder is transformed. It can be dots that disappear, stripes that lose their color, etc! It can even be as simple as the miraculous itself changing color to indicate the timer. If you’re unsure what can count as a Miraculous, feel free to ask the moderators to look over your ideas.Q. Do tools have to be entirely unique, or can there be duplicates?A. There’s no issue with having a tool similar to someone else in the group, as long as it fits their theme!

Art by CupcakeForMyKitten

Can my character have a weapon as a tool? If they can, what weapons are allowed?A. Your character can have a weapon as a tool, but only if you purchase the weapon upgrade in the Miracle Shop!
Generally, we err on the side of caution on what is or isn't considered a weapon- if it's something that's distinctly made to be dangerous and hurt people, it will probably need a weapon. If you're worried about a tool being considered a weapon, you can specify it's not sharp, softened, or something of that sort!
For more specific information about what weapons are allowed, see the Powers, Abilities and Tools section!

Art by CupcakeForMyKitten

Q. Why are some characters allowed certain powers, but not others?A. The short answer is, we've had a lot of rule-changes, or a balanced ability on one character can be game-breaking on another. If a previous character has gotten in with a trait that is no longer viable, it’s likely because we’ve updated our rules and guidelines since then, or there's now better precedent with a similar ability that we'd like to follow.Q. Why are some myths valid while others are not?A. Generally speaking, the only reason a myth isn't valid in the group is because it's taboo in the culture it's from, or because we consider it too humanoid for a kwami. There's more information about this in the Character Creation guidelines!Q. Can my character change sides if I feel they no longer fit their faction?A. Yes! Redeeming a Newspaper from the Shop allows your character to switch sides, you would just need to update their information and put them on the proper character app.Q. Am I allowed to redesign or remove a character from the group if I am no longer satisfied with them?

A. Yes and yes! If you feel the need to redesign a character, you can buy an eyeliner from the Miracle Shop. Once you're ready to redeem it, put the new and old design in the Items Usage channel of our discord! the moderators will look over the redesign, make sure it meets the guidelines, and then either contact you with any necessary fixes or redeem it for you!If you no longer wish to have a character in the group, you can go into item-usage and list the character you wish to remove! The moderators will remove that character from the database as well as open the character slot that was occupied by them.Q. Why did I receive 'fixes' for my character's application?A.We don't outright deny applicants to the group, and opt to give fixes instead! Fixes are given if a character doesn't fit our guidelines or breaks our rules. If you make any necessary fixes, your application will probably be accepted! We're also willing to work with people on fixes, if they're unclear or confusing.Fixes are not a personal attack- we're just trying to keep the group balanced for everyone and make sure that everything fits okay with the world!

Character Upgrades FAQ

Q. What are character upgrades?A. Character upgrades are items you can buy to make your character more powerful! They can range anywhere from giving your character a passive ability to allowing them to completely ignore their detransformation timer to making their existing powers more powerful. Most upgrades can be found in the Miracle Shop and can be purchased at any time.Q. Can my character start with upgrades or do they need to earn them?A. If you have the needed items in your inventory, a character can start out with upgrades!Upgrades can also be applied to a character after they're submitted, just keep in mind that you’ll need to buy each upgrade individually for each character!Q. Do I need to get passive A, B, and C in order? Do passives stack?A. You don't need to apply them in order, but you can only redeem each passive once per character. You can't redeem two of the same kind of passive.

Art by 1tsNert0rN0thing

Q. What happens if I remove a character that has upgrades? Will I get them back or are they lost forever?A. Unless you heirloom their miraculous or use a sponge, all of their upgrades will disappear along with them. The only exceptions are legendary items such as a Second Miraculous, Nullified Timer, or additional myth slots.Q. What is a Second Miraculous?A. Second Miraculouses are a chance for a character in the group to have two Miraculouses instead of one. It gives them a second identity to use however they want! The second identity doesn't need to be in the same faction; a hero can have a gray second identity, or a villain could have a hero second identity, or so on! Both identities do need to be listed as being from the same geographic place, though- you can't be two places at once!Q. Do characters with a Second Miraculous get to have the same upgrades as their main identity?A. They would need their own separate upgrades! A new miraculous means you need to redeem new items to power it up.Q. How do I remove character upgrades without removing the character?A. Use a sponge from the miracle shop! It will return all the items to you, without removing the character. Just make sure to revert any changes done to their application after the mods say it's been redeemed- if you do it before, you might not get all your items back!

Character Creation

Choosing an Animal

Art by SammyBoi

The animal your character’s kwami is based on will affect their appearance, their abilities, and possibly where they're from!
Practically anything that's considered an animal can be a kwami. We even allow mythical creatures - but they, like normal animals, have some restrictions.

Restrictions
Duplicates of animals or mythical creatures already in the group are not allowed. If there is a bullfrog holder already in the group, then that animal becomes unavailable! At least, until the character is removed or swaps that miraculous for a different one.
Subspecies of animals are allowed β€” so while an American bullfrog may not be available, an African bullfrog could still be made.
Extinct animals are also allowed. Extinct animals count as normal animals for the purposes of which slots they use.
A character must be from the continent their animal is found on unless they use a passport.
Humans, extinct varieties or not, cannot be used as miraculous animals. This also extends to neanderthals and other prehistoric, human-like beings.
Mythical creatures are slightly different. Not only do they require a different kind of character slot, a myth slot,they have a few extra rules and restrictions.While we allow mythical creatures, they;
1. Can’t be humanoid in nature or body type. (No sasquatches)
2. Must resemble an animal or have an incarnation where they are purely animal-like. (A kitsune is fine, despite having a human form, because they have a fox form)
3. Cannot be a cultural taboo, to avoid cultural insensitivity and appropriation. Important deities from currently practiced religions are also not allowed for the same reason.
Finally, mythical creatures are restricted to their country of origin unless they redeem a Kingdom Key from the shop. A kingdom key functions like a passport does. If their country of origin is unclear or doesn't exist anymore, modern-day geographic equivalents are what we go by (for example, a basilisk could be placed in any country within the former range of the Roman Empire without needing a kingdom key).
If you’re unsure what counts as a valid myth or not, feel free to ask the mods!

Powers, Abilities, and Tools

A miraculous can grant amazing powers, from being able to create whole new objects to flat-out destruction! A holder usually has at least one special ability, and a tool that's granted to them while they're transformed. Some holders are known to have passives instead of tools, though!Ladybug’s Lucky Charm or Chat Noir’s Cataclysm are examples of what would count as a special ability. After being activated, there will usually be a countdown before the user is forced out of costume to feed their kwamis and recharge. Most specials have holders detransform 5 minutes after using them, but some more powerful specials have shorter timers!

Tools - A tool can be anything from a yo-yo to a staff β€” but it does have to be generally harmless. Usually, it'll fit with the character's theme or animal; a fish holder might have a net, or a knight holder might have a shield!
A tool cannot be a weapon, but characters can replace their tool with a weapon in the future with the right item!
A tool (or weapon) can be a part of a matched set, as long as it is on the smaller end of things (a set of hand fans, twin daggers, etc)Redeemable upgrades
Many upgrades can be purchased for your characters to make them more powerful! Here's what they are and what they do
Weapon - Allows your holder to have a weapon! From a sword to a paintball gun, anything is possible (as long as it follows our rules for weapons, at least!) Things like swords, axes, maces, and anything else you can think of as a 'weapon' are probably allowed, if you have a weapon item to redeem!
Bows and arrows or other ranged, low-tech weapons are allowed, too! We do have some specific rules on how they operate, though; They have a cap on ammunition capacity, depending on the type and if the holder can retrieve it for another shot!If the holder cannot retrieve it to use it again, and it is normal ammo/has no special effects, a holder can have up to 20 'shots' of ammunition
If the holder can retrieve it and use it again, and it is normal ammo, a holder can have 10-15 ammunition.
If the holder cannot retrieve/reuse it, and it has a special effect, they can have 10 ammunition
And, finally, if the ammo can be retrieved/reused and has a special effect, they can have up to 5 ammunition. We do now allow 'guns' of sorts, although with heavy limits-
They cannot have ammo that is lethal, it must be something like a paint ball gun, or airsoft gun.
The ammo cannot be retrieved after being shot. This means any 'guns' must have an ammunition capacity of 20 shots if they have normal ammo. If a gun has 'special' ammo, it has a limit of 5 shots- this differs from our normal rules about ranged weapons, but feels fairer for an automatic weapon. It must be clearly 'fake'/not a real gun.Things that can be shot for an extended amount of time, like a water gun or flamethrower, must have some kind of limit on how long or how far they can fire.
Second Tool - A second tool for your holder! Like the first, it can't be a weapon unless you redeem a weapon item for it.
Special Buff - Buffs one special/active ability and makes it more powerful! You can redeem one per active ability that your holder has.
Second Special Use - The ability to use their special a second time before their timer begins!

Second Active Ability - A second active ability! Has to follow all the same rules as the first active abilities. If you character doesn't have a Second Special Use, they have to choose between which of their two specials they will use each transformation. If your character does have a second special use, they can choose to use both active abilities once, or one active ability two times.Passives - Passives are abilities that are always active while the holder is in costume. They tend to be weaker and usually grant small bonuses. While a special would need to be activated manually, passives go on in the background. Being able to breathe underwater or have enhanced senses would count as a passive ability. Anything that requires the holder to 'activate' it, in any way, wouldn't be a passive. Some passives may have requirements that must be met before they take effect, like a holder becoming stronger at night.
Passives are meant to only affect their user, although some may have a weak effect on the world around them and to a slight degree other people. Any effects on others should be mild and uncontrollable by the holder. Please talk to your rp partners if your characters have passives that are meant to affect others in more subtle ways!
Things such as flight would also need to be an active ability or rely on a tool, but gliding/feather fall is more than acceptable as a passive ability!

All holders can redeem a Passive A, B, and C, available in the shop! Holders can also start out with a passive in place of a tool! A second tool cannot be replaced with a passive like the starter tool can be.Slowed Timers and Nullified Timer - Slows down, or completely removes, your characters detransformation timer! These items must be redeemed in order- so you must have a Slowed Timer A to redeem a Slowed Timer B, and you have to have both Slowed Timers to redeem a Nullified Timer if you're lucky enough to get one from the ship!
Second Miraculous - A whole new miraculous and identity for your character; only one can be redeemed per character, and upgrades are tracked separately for second miraculouses. They require their own application, but a second miraculous takes up no additional character slots and can be submitted any time.

Alignment

What side your character is on will change what visual app they use- as well as what the mods will look at for their actions, motivations, and so on! You can make your character of any alignment, though if you make heroes that kill people or villains that do nothing but help people, you might be asked to change what alignment your character is listed as!The factions are as follows:

Heroes - Heroes are holders that choose to use their powers for the greater good, or to help others more than they help themselves- No problem is too big or too small to assist with, and they do anything from helping old ladies cross the street to battling Akumatized monsters to keep others safe!
Usually, heroes are in the Hero Union, and answer to different leaders depending on the continent that they're from!
Villains - Villains are those that use their abilities for more selfish motivations. Holders can be labeled a villain from things as simple as petty theft to crimes such as murder. They often find themselves in opposition to the heroes for one reason or another.Villains tend to form their own organizations or work solo; either way, they end up on the bad side of the law and aren't prone to helping anyone without a good reason.

Grays - Grays are home to vigilantes, freelancers, and anyone else who isn't quite a hero or villain. Grays don’t follow any official rules, but are usually led by their own morals and standards- and those tend to be somewhere in the gray area! Known murderers and assassins CANNOT fall under the label of Gray, and instead will always be considered villains.Grays do not have leaders like heroes do, and don't usually have anyone to answer to like some villains, but more 'experienced' grays may be sought out by others for guidance.Members may make a hero, villain, or gray at any time - as long as their motivations and actions fit!

Personality and Background

For character personalities, we ask for information about how they act as a civilian and how they act while in costume.
When checking personality, the mod team looks to see if the civilian section has 5 distinct personality traits; 1 positive, 1 negative, and 3 other traits that can be either positive, negative, or neutral. When we look at the holder section, we don't mind if it's very similar to their civilian personality! But we do ask that the holder section has 2 personality traits unique to their holder identity (these can be positive, negative or neutral)
Personalities can be written out either in paragraph or bullet point form, so long as they have complete sentences and aren't just a list of traits.
As for character backstories, we’d like an idea of their life before becoming a holder and how they became a holder! We usually ask for at least a paragraph's worth of information about their life before they became a holder, and a few sentences explaining how they came across their miraculous. Backstories can be formatted either as paragraphs, or as bullet pointed lists!Characters cannot be related to or have a relationship with the canon characters of the Miraculous Ladybug franchise, please remember this when writing backstories. When writing a character, be sure to be respectful and avoid stereotypes β€” especially if your character comes from a background you may not be familiar with.

Design

A character's costume is a reflection of their ideals and inspirations. A miraculous on one person can look completely different on another, so there's a lot of room for variety in costumes! We encourage creativity, so don't be afraid to find a theme and really lean into it! Make a pirate, make a knight, make a spandex-donning-underpants-on-the-outside superhero! Do whatever your heart desires- Although, there are some rules and guidelines about holder costumes!

  • Your character should resemble the animal you're using, whether it's through coloration or aspects of the design that call back to their animal. ( A bunny holder might have a ribbon resembling rabbit ears, a bird holder might have a mask shaped like a beak, and so on!)

  • No designs should resemble anything inappropriate. This group is PG-15 and we'd like to avoid anything overtly sexual.

  • Their costume shouldn't wholly resemble plain clothes. They're supposed to be magical, superpowered people, after all! Some kind of animal patterning/coloration, or other animal motif, is necessary!

  • A Kwami's coloration can be exaggerated or a bit unnatural, especially in the case of myths or extinct animals, but they still need to resemble their animal. A Tabby cat should have stripes, and a dalmation should have spots!

  • No real animal features. A character's costume can imitate animal body parts with fabric and other material but they can't have a tail or flesh and blood cat ears. Although, the costumes are magical and members have described them as reactive or expressive in the past!

  • The character's face must be obscured or covered in some way. Either through their hair magically always covering it, face paint, a mask, or even dramatic, magical shadows. This is to help preserve their identity. Although some masks can be removed, a Holder must always have something covering their face underneath removable masks.

  • On a final note, we encourage doing research when designing costumes if a holder's cultural background affects their holder costume. Designs that are overly-stereotypical, especially in harmful ways, will need to be changed.

Kwami

Kwamis are the magical little beings bound to their respective miraculous! Each kwami resembles an existing animal, and their personalities vary just as wildly as any person's might. In a way, they're like a second character! Kwamis generally represent some concept, although we don't require members to list what, if any, concept their kwamis represent. If you want to incorporate that into your character and their themeing, though, feel free to!

Art by 1tsNert0rN0thing

For Kwamis, what's important to remember is that they:

  • Cannot speak the name of their holder to anyone else, even if they want to. This is to ensure their holder's identity is safe.

  • Must have a name with two of the same letters in a row. ( For example; Plagg, Tikki, Pollen, etc.)

  • Cannot exist outside of their miraculous while their holder is transformed.

For their personality, the mods look for 5 distinct personality traits; 1 positive, 1 negative, and 3 that can be either positive, negative, or neutral. Just like a civilian personality for the holder themselves!
For their backstory, we ask for a paragraph explaining their past, how previous holders have affected them, and how they came to their current holder!

App and Formatting

Applications can be posted just about anywhere, from Google docs and deviantArt, to toyhou.se, so long as it links to the visual application and has all of the necessary written information. In order for a character's application to be considered complete it must have:

  • Two fully colored, full-bodied images of your character. One of their civilian form, the other of them in costume. The Civilian should be on the left while their holder costume is on the right.

  • All necessary sections of the visual application filled out. That includes: Name, Holder Name, Location, Kwami, Miraculous, and their tool! We also require the miraculous to have both the inactive and active forms on it, and a timer indicated on it somehow!

  • The required information in the written portion of the application.

  • If you're using docs, include the Visual Application somehow- a link with a high resolution version of the app is preferred, but you can also just copy and paste the app into the document if you want.

Digital art is not a requirement for joining the group! We love members who experiment with all mediums of art. If you want to use traditional art for an application, all we ask is that it's neatly cropped onto the existing app template. The mods are willing to help you with this, if you need! Don't be shy if you need a hand!

Here are some blank google doc templates that members have used in the past:

Feel free to borrow them, ask around for others, or come up with your own!

Submitting

When you want to submit a character, just post your application into the #application-review channel on discord! The moderators will look it over and message you to let you know if any corrections are needed. This process can take up to a few days, so please be patient! Master List

The Member Database is essentially a one-stop-shop for members' inventories, MC earnings, available character slots, and existing characters in the group! Plus a few other things;
The Earnings tab lists all member earnings - any Miraculous credits you've earned, and any character slots you have, are listed here! The Inventory tab is what it sounds like- any items you've bought from the shops are listed out here!
The Charas by Member tab is, basically, a big list of all the characters in the group and what animal their Miraculous represents. You can also find links to all the characters' applications here, so if you want to just browse around and see what others have made for the group, you can!
The Character Upgrades tab is for tracking what characters have redeemed upgrades, and what upgrades have been redeemed!
The Reservations is a separate document that tracks what animals are currently reserved, and by whom. It also lists all the unavailable miraculi! Animals that are reserved can only be made by that person until their reservation runs out. If you want to reserve an animal, just pop by #reservations in our discord!Important things to know before reserving an animal:

  • You may reserve up to three animals at a time.

  • Your reservation will last up to three months and can be dropped a week after first being reserved.

  • You cannot renew your reservation on the same animal right away, once it runs out. You may reserve the animal again if it hasn't been reserved for a week.

  • When reserving an animal, be sure to be specific on the breed or sub-species to avoid confusion. Color variations of an animal do not count as a separate species. ( A melanistic African lion is still an African lion.)

All canon Miraculous that aren't already in the group cannot be reserved and are considered unavailable.

World Info

Leaders & NPCS

Leaders and NPCs both play an important role in the world of Miraculous Holders, and will interact with characters in the group in different ways!
Leaders are part of the Heroes union, and do their best to help steer their fellow heroes when there's trouble. Each leader heads a continental team. They're generally the ones to let their teammates know what's happening, and provide direction and a steady hand when crises arise.
Group NPCs are all holders or people who know about the holder world, and have no ties to the Heroes Union, with the exception of Miracle. They play a more passive role, usually providing services to others. These services are generally limited to fast travel, and running shops where holders can buy items! Although, there are a few NPCs that provide help in other ways.
All Leaders and Group NPCs are played by a mod, with some played by specific moderators. Others, however, are played by all mods.

Meet The Leaders

These are the continental leaders of the Hero Union! Heroes that align with the Union will fall under the rank of one of these leaders, but which one depends on the continent the hero is from. The team leaders are the ones who lead and provide direction to their team. Hero characters should seek them out during any major events or serious situations if they need help! In-Character interactions with the leaders are heavily encouraged!

Tancho - Asia Team Leader!Tancho wields the Koi fish miraculous, and has been active under the role of Asia's continental leader for a while now! He's had quite a few trials and tribulations, but he's fighting hard to make sure he's there for his team and the people that depend on him.
He does his best as a leader for his team and the heroes in general! He's determined to make sure every hero is as safe and sound as they can be, and his concern and compassion extends to heroes on other teams, grays, and even sometimes villains.

Highland Stallion - Europe Team Leader!A familiar face for many, Highland Stallion has reprised his role as the European continental leader! Although he tried to retire, he's found himself pulled back to a leader position in order to help everyone.
Always warm and welcoming, Highland Stallion tries to be a solid rock for others to lean on, and does his best to help everyone carry things. He cares deeply about everyone, and he's ready to hit all the villains with that Dad Disappointment β„’ !

Tazzy Tiger - Oceania Team Leader!Tazzy Tiger- or just Taz - is a hero that stepped up at the request of the previous leader of his continent. He's a little new to the leader game, but he's catching up fast and determined to show everyone he's worthy of the title!
Taz isn't much for bureaucracy and diplomacy, and shines best in situations that need someone hands-on! He's the guy you're likely to see coordinating other heroes if villains or akumas are wreaking havoc anywhere, especially in his home continent of Oceania.
Played by Nert!

Momma Bear - North America Team Leader!Momma Bear, or just Momma, is a little bit new to the holder scene, but her civilian job as a nurse means that she is no stranger to stressful situations or leading people, and she certainly lives up to her holder name.
Momma is a protector and a helper, a shield for the people as well as their comfort. She's always down to give hugs or beat up bullies in equal measure, and even doesn't mind doing the tedious paperwork that being a hero leader sometimes entails. Overall what she might lack in miraculous holder experience, she more than makes up for in general life experience.

Supporting Cast

These are the current Group NPCs your characters will probably run into or hear about during their time in the group! Members are encouraged to interact with them or inquire about them when they pop up!

Raven, Ex-Hero Leader, deceasedRaven was the original founder of the heroes union and was once the guide to the continental leaders. His vision was to unite all the heroes, and make sure peace prospered everywhere. The Crow miraculous allowed him to create the Mirror Portal System, which allowed heroes to travel anywhere near-instantly so they could assist with crime and akumas attacks. To the despair of many, he was found deceased only a year after forming the union. His death caused the mirror system to collapse and made the union fall into disarray for a bit. While several people held the crow miraculous after him - there was only ever one Raven.

Miracle, Leader of AntarticaThe beloved Savior of Antarctica, and mascot for the Hero Union. He was made Leader of the Antarctica team, since as far as most people know, he's the best holder there! Nobody is sure how exactly he got a miraculous, but whenever it gets taken away from him it mysteriously finds its way back. Sometimes you can spot him on the Holder Network, seeing what everyone else is up to (and seeing if anyone will give him food…)

Art by CupcakeForMyKitten

Ranger, Villain TransportRanger is the one and only Greyhound holder bus driver, using his miraculous's powers to spread villains all over the world. The greyhound bus is only a whistle away, and will always be right on time when you need it.
While Ranger has the title of 'Villain Transport', he's more or less neutral. He'll give rides to any holder who can bribe him enough for one. Just be careful where you ask to go, otherwise you could find yourself accidentally stranded in a completely different country with no way home!

Star Geezer, Owner of the Ship of Wondrous WaresAn elderly man that runs the Ship of Wondrous Wares. He and his shop are quite unusual, and you're unlikely to ever find either if you're actively looking for them. His boat, which happens to also be his shop, can be found in the strangest places, but he makes up for the difficulty of finding him with powerful items that can't be found anywhere else.
He welcomes anyone of any alignment aboard his Ship of Wonderous Wares. He even occasionally sells items from the Patisserie at a discount- but buyer beware! He's also known to sell tricks or items that aren't quite what they seem!

Reese (?) Works the counter at the PatisserieA crabby, snappy young woman that always seems to be the one working the counter at the Patisserie. She doesn't seem to care what alignment any holder has- she just wants them to hurry up and buy something so she can go on break! No, She can't answer any questions about the shop she works at, or the items that are sold there- or where they come from! Just hurry up and pick out what you want!

Basic setting!

Since the first miraculouses were made, those with selfish intentions used their powers to control others and sway people to their whims. Others saw the potential in the Miraculouses to protect their families, serve justice, and stop those that chose to abuse their powers. These two groups have fought for ages, clashing throughout all of history. In the modern era, more eyes have fallen on holders than ever before. This has transferred holders from beings of legend to a very real, often painful reality for many. Holders have found themselves equally unhappy with this, finding themselves hounded by the media, instead of being simple local heroes or being allowed to stick to the shadows. Many villains became infamous, many heroes were dragged unwillingly into the spotlight, and there was a chaotic mess in the world as nobody knew who was good, who was bad, and who to trust as far as holders went.It was during the year 2024 that someone named Samuel Rose, a holder himself, wanted to find a way to organise things to help everyone. Inspired by hero groups of older times, he used his identity as Raven to unite all well meaning holders under one banner. The Hero Union was formed, and for a while things were more orderly for everyone.
That wasn't meant to last, though; The butterfly Miraculous- which was assumed to be lost forever- had resurfaced, along with the Akumas created by its holder. The Butterfly holder spelled bad news for holders that had joined the newly-formed union, and the two parties found themselves in intense opposition to each other.
The year is now 2029, and Union has grown both in size and influence, despite many setbacks and hardships. They help with many kinds of problems and disasters that nobody else is equipped for- specifically and especially Akuma attacks. On the other side of the coin, villains have made a few allies and organizations of their own. It's only a matter of time before these ill-intentioned holders strike back against the Union trying to hold them down.During recent times, a neutral party has slowly formed as well - one caught between the conflict. Many holders that find themselves neither Heroes nor Villains are given the label of 'Gray', either because their actions sway back and forth between heroism and villainy, or because they lack any real actions at all for people to judge them on.

Civilian knowledge

Art by 1tsNert0rN0thing

Miraculouses have been around for an incredibly long time, nearly as long as humans have been settling together and forming societies. Their impact on cultures and people worldwide comes as no surprise. They have been used to gain selfish power, to deceive others, to fight 'evils' of the time, and of course to protect civilizations from any active danger. These actions have even gone on to inspire myths and folklore. How much of mythological happenings is true, and how much is just embellishment, is hard to discern, but it's clear miraculouses and kwamis have had a massive impact on history in many ways.In the current day, the general public's knowledge of heroes and the specifics of how they get their powers is spotty.
Generally speaking, people are aware miraculouses exist and grant powers to those who hold them, but few understand how. Explanations vary widely depending on who you ask- some say its super-advanced technology, some say they're cursed, and some say even more strange things to explain how and why miraculouses work.
Despite the massive variety of theories, nobody claims to know about the little critters that are bound to miraculouses. All the general nuances of being a holder, but especially Kwamis, are only known to people within holder circles. It's encouraged that things stay that way, too!

Public Perception

More well-known and well-liked heroes might be closer to celebrities than heroes. Stan accounts and fan clubs are only the tip of the iceberg when it comes to fame- and if an individual wants to avoid the limelight, they can definitely try!
Popular heroes can sway public opinion on some things, and might be invited to important events depending on their status. Some heroes are seen doing interviews or local news segments- and others are popular enough to go on even larger prime time shows!
Sometimes, there are conventions held to celebrate and uplift the hero community, organized with the help of the Heroes Union! These conventions can be compared to Comic-Con, with heroes as the celebrity guests hosting panels, signing autographs, and taking pictures with fans!
Although heroes are better received by the public at large, villains aren't without their fans and followers. Even the worst, most destructive villains have those in the stands ready to argue for their actions. Smart villains know how to play into this, to at least make the heroes look a little bad if they decide to haul that villain off to jail. Or so they'll have adoring fans writing to them while they're behind bars- whichever they prefer.

Along with raging online discussions about different holders and holder politics, there are countless journalists that are dedicated to figuring out holder identities. Most "identity reveals" are totally inaccurate and done just for clickbait and shock value, although some have better sources than others. If one of these journalists ever hits the nail on the head, it's a good idea to contact a union representative…

Miraculous Info

What's a Miraculous?
A Miraculous is an accessory that has a kwami bound to it, and is imbued with magic by said kwami! Miraculouses* can come in many shapes and sizes - anything from the smallest earrings to the chunkiest scarves, and all accessories in-between. Broadly speaking, if you can wear it, it can be a miraculous.
When a Miraculous is 'inactive', which is when it's just being worn by someone, it takes on a mundane appearance meant to deflect any suspicions about its true nature. When a holder transforms with the help of their kwami, a miraculous can look totally different!
Although they used to be strictly kept track of and protected by guardians, miraculi in the modern day seem to be found just about anywhere if you're lucky!
Powers and Limits
Although Miraculouses can grant great power, they are still limited by the experience of the holder. It doesn't take long to figure out your time in costume is limited! After using their special ability, also called active abilities in the group, a holder's countdown will start. The countdown signals that their Kwami's power is all used up, and they'll be forced out of costume soon if they don't detransform on their own.
A Kwami’s favorite food is key to re-powering-up! It helps the Kwami replenish their energy so that their holder can transform again.
Kwamis
A Miraculous is nothing without the Kwami bound to it! Kwamis are small, animal-like beings, and embody some kind of concept. This can affect what powers they grant, and possibly their personality!
A Kwami’s form corresponds to a real world animal, or in some cases, mythical creatures. Two kwamis that correspond to the same animal are entirely unheard of- it simply doesn't happen! They are ageless, and some kwamis have centuries of wisdom under their belt. Others, though, are about as aware as a rock…
Kwamis only get to interact with the physical world when they're bound to a Miraculous. Although powerful in their own right, kwamis can't reach their own full potential without a holder. Kwamis cannot speak their wielder’s true name to anyone, not even other kwamis. If they try, bubbles begin pouring out of their mouth! This is to protect the wielder of their miraculous and prevent them from being endangered by the kwami.
Costumes
Costumes can serve many purposes, from protection to self expression, but the most important one is keeping a holder's identity secret! A holder always has something obscuring their face, although how covered their face is can vary person-to-person. Some holders just have facepaint to conceal their identity, but others conceal every part of their body.
A holder's costume always reflects what animal they represent, but the details can vary widely from person to person. A holder could be princess themed, and someone else, if given the same miraculous, might have an entirely different theme to their outfit. This is because the holders themselves have a heavy effect on the costume!
Costumes also serve as physical protection. Since the fabric of any costume is magical, it's much more durable than regular clothing! In some ways it's more akin to armor. However, blunt damage will still hurt, and some weapons can still cut through and cause damage to the fabric of costumes.

Akumas

What is an Akuma?
The most simple explanation of an akuma is an inky black butterfly made of negative energy and bad feelings. They're created by the canon Butterfly miraculous holder to take advantage of individuals' downward spirals. They're attracted to negative emotions of any kind- from rage and jealousy to hopelessness and anxiety.
Once they find a victim, the Akuma finds its way into an important item on their person, Akumatizing them in the process. When a person is Akumatized, their negative emotions drive their actions and they gain powers related to whatever negative feeling had drawn the Akuma to them. Usually they have some kind of goal related to this as well- someone who was Akumatized from feeling exhausted and worn out may gain the ability to make others fall asleep, and want to make the whole world sleep, for example.
In theory, the Butterfly holder could control an Akuma, but a more stubborn Akumatized victim is unlikely to listen to them.
Dealing with ThemAkumatized victims will cause havoc until the item holding the Akuma is destroyed. This will release the person who was Akumatized, but it will also release the Akuma! It will try to find a new victim, unless it's captured and sealed away, or purified, which will destroy it.
An Akuma can be purified either with the Ladybug Miraculous, or with the help of a skilled enough mage. Akumas can also be trapped in containers like jars, but that only works as a temporary solution.

The Factions

Art by CupcakeForMyKitten

A driving force of conflict in the world of Miraculous Holders is its factions. Each one is different, with their own rules and definitions. Here’s an overview of each faction, how they work, and what it means to work under them.Heroes and the Hero union
Heroes as a concept have been around for centuries, but the Heroes Union was only recently established.
The Heroes Union's goal is to unify all heroically-aligned holders. While the Heroes Union works with law enforcement and other official organizations when needed, they are not cops, and do not work as law enforcement officers.
There are perks to officially working within the union, the biggest of which is a paycheck. Although not often massive, unless you dedicate a lot of time to hero work, it does help provide for the world's protectors and some people are able to take on hero work as their full-time job!
The Union also upkeeps access to a large amount of different resources for any holders within its ranks, from mentorship to medical assistance and more. Although some teams have different resources depending on what their leaders can work out for their teams, it's generally safe to assume you get health coverage and a few extra bells and whistles for being in the Union.
Another benefit is some amount of legal protection for hero-related work- for example, if a hero is caught tresspassing while hunting down a villain or akuma, the union will back them up and keep them out of trouble as best it can. This does have its limits, however, and if a hero breaks union rules then it's entirely possible they'll be on their own.

The Heroes Union has its own rules and breaking them can result in write ups, restrictions, or being completely booted from the Union. Recklessly causing destruction, endangering teammates or civilians, and causing undue harm to anyone- even villains- can get you warned and kicked out of the hero union.
Loss of Union status means that holders won't have the same perks and protections that Union members have. Although it's not impossible to regain member status in the Union, being kicked out can net you additional scrutiny.
Joining, or re-joining, the Union is simple enough if you're willing to jump through the paperwork and hoops to get member status.

Grays and NeutralityGrays are those who don't fit in either group. Not quite heroic enough for the Union or independent hero work, and not quite villainous enough to fall into regular evil. Grays do what they want, when they feel like it.Grays fill a large range of roles, and the Grays as a whole don't have a single, unified goal like the Heroes. Many grays are freelancers, or people who find either faction too perilous to be in. Some grays simply prefer neutrality. Some just want to take matters into their own hands in ways the heroes can't or won't.
One thing the majority of the faction does agree on, however, is that murderers and assassins do not belong among their ranks. Anyone who kills people will be soundly rejected by the Grays and will always be categorized as a Villain by civilians.
Grays have no leaders and no real authority figures, instead looking to holders that they personally trust and well-established fellow Grays for guidance when needed. Star-geezer, for example, is an older Gray who provides guidance and assistance to the faction.
Regardless of their leanings and who they look to for guidance, a gray's loyalty lies with neither the heroes nor the villains.

Art by 1tsNert0N0thing

Villainy and its villainsHolders that have decided to use their newfound powers for crime instead of heroism are Villains. Some villains may be kind or well meaning, but no matter what, their actions are ultimately harmful to those around them and innocent civilians.
Villains vary widely from petty thieves to assassins to those who just want to oppose the heroes for the sake of it. Although they aren't as organized as the Hero Union, the Villains have numerous smaller gangs and crime rings that watch eachothers' backs and push back against hero interference. These groups can range from a small handful of individuals to a continent-spanning organization.
Oftentimes when things go wrong, the finger is pointed at Villains first, and their faction label causes them to be distrusted by both civilians and many other holders.

Changing FactionsSometimes a hero may find themselves falling out of grace, or a villain may find that a life of crime is no longer for them. It's normal for people to change over time- but changing factions to reflect personal changes can be a little difficult for some.Heroes can simply resign from the union and eventually perception of them will align with their new actions, be they gray or villainous.Villains will likely have more difficulty in changing their image. There are, however, programs they can enroll in and if they choose to join the hero union, there are bound to be heroes who are willing to help vouch for them. If a villain takes these actions and truly tries to be a hero, there's a good chance that the public opinion will shift more favorably for them. They might not be fully trusted by everyone, but they'll generally be seen in a better light than before. The label of Gray is free for anyone to adopt if they want, save for the killer's exception. Grays as a faction, and the public in general, renounce anyone who ends lives and boxes them into the Villain faction. Known murderers, career assassins, and anyone else who is known to kill others, cannot be a Gray no matter how noble their intentions in killing are.

FactionceptionWithin the Heroes, Villains, and Greys, there are many smaller factions and groups that have their own goals and morals. These groups are semi-independent of their umbrella factions, although some may still be bound by the rules of those factions. A smaller team within the Hero Union still has to follow Union rules, after all!
Some of these groups are welcoming to any holder who wants to join, and others are incredibly exclusive with their membership. Others require a certain theme, and some have membership that waxes and wanes depending on events in the holder world.

Transportation

Miraculous Holders takes place across the entire globe - which can be pretty overwhelming for a small-time hero, or extremely costly to a traveling villain. But there's a few easier ways to get around, for those in the know!Mirrors
Thanks to the mirror system in place from the Crow miraculous, heroes and neutral holders can treat almost any reflective surface as a portal to somewhere else. There are a few things to know, though! The reflective surface has to be big enough for a person to fit through, and if it's not a solid surface it must be still. This means a holder can't jump through something like a compact mirror, but they could travel through a particularly still pond or reflective window.
The halls of the Mirrors are a liminal space that works as the hub to get to other locations. There are various mirrors hanging along all of the walls, and occasional rooms that are decorated wall-to-wall with mirrors. A holder can just choose to walk through any mirror here if they have their destination in mind- but if they're not entirely sure where they want to go, and aren't picturing it clearly in their head, they may end up somewhere else. The mirrors, especially recently, are mazelike and confusing for anyone who lingers too long, and travel by mirror is known to make some people a little bit queasy or lightheaded.
The Crow holder, whoever they may be, controls who can and cannot enter the mirrors. Currently, traveling through the mirrors is barred to villains.

Art by 1tsNert0rN0thing

The Bus
Villains may not be able to use the mirrors- but they can always call a Greyhound. With a whistle, a villain can summon Ranger's Bus to transport them to anywhere they want to go. The bus itself is nearly invisible to others, and much, much faster than the average bus.
All they have to do is pay and let the driver know where to go! When given a destination, Ranger’s bus will get them there in fractions of the time normal transport would take. It doesn't matter what might be in the way, be it a mountain or an ocean- this bus is never late and has to get to its stop!
Be sure to speak clearly, though! And maybe bring a bribe for the driver- Ranger is known to drop unsuspecting holders off wherever he feels like, whether it's their stop or not.
Teleportation Specials
Some holders are known to have other specials that can transport themselves or others in the blink of an eye. This can be equally helpful or hindering, depending on the holder and how well they know their powers! Be careful asking others for magical transportation.

Communication and Tech

Each holder, regardless of alignment, has a communicator when they're in costume! This is used for communicating with other holders, which you might guess by the name. A communicator can be incorporated into a tool, or be something entirely separate from it. The former team leader of Africa, Bang!, was a bit of a technological wunderkind, and they're responsible for several breakthroughs in merging technology and miraculous magic, many of which are still used today! The Feeds
A chatroom for any holders! The feeds resemble a discord server, with many channels to explore and chat in. Any holder, regardless of who or where they are, can talk on the feeds!
While anyone can chat in the feeds, some parts of the chatrooms can only be viewed by those of specific alignments or from specific regions. Holders from one continent can't see and chat in the channels for other continents. A holder from South America can't see what's going on in the Oceania feed, and vice versa!
Without Bang’s knowledge of and upkeep of the feeds, technological difficulties have been difficult to fix. All of the alignment channels are now only viewable by people of their respective alignments, though this wasn't always the case.

Art by SammyBoi

Smartphones and Other TechHolders can access the feeds, even out of costume! A holder will magically have a new app added to their devices upon becoming a holder, allowing them access to the feeds and more!
This app allows holders to photograph or videotape Kwamis- which is normally totally impossible! It also allows holders to ping their location, and has an Akuma Tracker- for letting others know where you are, and letting holders of all alignments know if an Akuma is attacking, respectively.

Mages and Guardians

Art by 1tsNert0rN0thing

Mages
Mages are knowledgeable about the magic of the world and how to manipulate it! They're responsible for binding Kwamis to their respective Miraculi. Mages can also craft potions and imbue other items with magic! The only known mage in the group is Star Geezer, although it's likely the owner of the mystery patisserie is a mage as well, even if Reese won't confirm that.
Guardians
Guardians are the people who guard and care for inactive Miraculi and their kwamis, and give them out to those who are deemed worthy. Not all Guardians are mages, but many pick up being mages in addition to their guardian duties! The role of Guardian can be passed on to others, and some choose to wield the miraculi under their care and become holders themselves. It's possible your holder has encountered one before, since they play a large role in passing on miraculi!
Potions and Potion Making
Mages and Guardians are capable of brewing potions that can be used to grant holders powers they wouldn't otherwise have, regardless of that holder's miraculous animal or any upgrades they've received. There are also potions that are meant to be purely cosmetic, for things like a change of outfits at holder events, or for warmer clothing during the winter! Potions are not permanent- their effects always wear off, eventually!

Potions are usually cooked into, or put on, food for Kwamis to eat, transforming both the kwami and their holder's costume until the effects are gone. The most notable person who makes potions in the MH universe is Star Geezer!

How to earn Miraculous Credits.

Miraculous Credits, usually shortened to MC, are the group's currency! If you want to buy anything, from character upgrades to extra slots, MC is what you use!
MC is earned by group participation! Doing artwork, logging rps with other members, and writing things featuring your characters will all earn you MC when you submit it in #group-submissions! You can also earn double MC with certain items and during events!
If you have something you want to get rid of, you can sell it in the #shopping-n-selling channel in the discord. Items sold are worth 75% of their purchase price. Remember to state how many of a certain item you want to sell if you have more than one!
You can view your current MC balance and Inventory on the Database!

The Mystery Patisserie

As a group we primarily run out of our Discord servers and for rping we use the bot, Tupperbox. For more info, check out the Tupperbox website.

"Will you hurry up and buy something, already?"You could have sworn this little pastry shop wasn't here before. A small sign is propped up outside, advertising magical sweets for magical beings. Nobody else seems to notice it, either…
And when you wander inside, things only get stranger! This shop also seems to have a bookstore section full of crusty old tomes and strange antiques littered across the shelves. As you approach the counter, a young woman rolls her eyes and gets up from where she was sitting behind it.
"Great, a customer." She doesn't seem particularly happy to see someone wanting to buy something, but it seems she's contractually obligated to humor your browsing. At least, for a few minutes. You only get a moment to look at the shop's stock, before she snaps at you again. "Will you hurry up and buy something, already?"

This is the Mystery Patisserie! You can get any common items you need for character creation, re-creation, or de-creation here! Everything here is always in stock, although if the prices are too steep you can check the Ship of Wonderous Wares to see if there are any discount items that pique your interest!

Ship of Wondrous Wares

"Welcome, welcome!"
Out of the corner of your eye, you catch a glimpse of a star-patterned tarp. An odd scent wafts from that direction- mostly it's hard to identify what the smell is, but you can definitely pick out seafood? You can't help but be curious.
When you wander that direction, you find a boat sitting in the middle of a clearing. It was more than a little odd to find a boat on land, but that wasn't even the strangest thing about this encounter! A huge cauldron was bubbling on the ship, with various strange bottles and ingredients scattered on tables around it. You hear a friendly voice from just out of view.
"Welcome, Welcome! You've been expected for a while," An elderly man, probably a holder based on his outfit, steps out from behind one of the tarps with a small laugh. He hums as he stirs whatever strange concoction is in the cauldron. You stare at the odd mixture for a while, before gazing back up at him, and the single visible eye that was fixed on you.
"Welcome... To the Ship of Wondrous Wares."
This is the Ship of Wondrous Wares! You can get items from the Mystery Patisserie at discount bin prices, and rare items that can't be bought anywhere else!
Star Geezer's stock rotates, roughly every two weeks! He could be selling a second miraculous one day and a half-price weapon the next!
